COURSES COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE [ CPL ]

Tayside offer 2 routes on how to achieve your dream to become a pilot:

BsC HONS DEGREE

This course is specified with the CAA requirements to get you your ATPL( Air Transport Pilot Licence) the course is full time and can get you to work as a flight instructor as part of the course.( I highly recommend this after speaking to students first hand at Tayside Aviation’ s base) most of the course is done in Tayside with guidance with exams and flying work. All exams are done at an approved centre by the CAA.
Entry criteria
• 17 years old to apply 18 to start
• Have a PPL
• 2 Highers or equalvent at grade C or above
• Hold an EASA Class 1 Medical certificate
• Be able to understand the English language written and verbal.
• Provide a Criminal record check
• Pass a selection interview and assessment with Tayside aviation

MODULAR ROUTE

The modular route consist of 6 steps: 1. PPL( Private Pilot License)
2. ATPL( 14 exams split into 3 stages) full info on exams on the website. 3. CPL minimum of 150 hours flown. In this stage a minimum of 25 hours flying in some complex aircraft and instrument flying in a simulator or aircraft.
4. MEP multi engine rating allows you to fly in a twin-powered aircraft, 6 hours dual flight along with ground work.
5. IR instrument rating allows easy access to instrument landing systems and local airfields if you have CPL 20 hours flight training and 30 hours simulator work.
6. MCC multi crew co-operation course this course gives you the skills needed to work well in the cockpit with your co-pilot lasts for 2 weeks and is 25 hour formal ground school work and 20 hours in the multi crew environment simulator
