Everyone loves new music. And although many of us won't admit it, we love having good music that no one's even heard yet. We love the thrill of finding enjoyable music from artists who've yet to be criticized by the masses. The moment where you can conclude that your 1 hour stint on Sound Cloud wasn't a waste of time is beautiful, but that moment doesn't happen every time you log on. The internet is filled with armies of hungry artists ready to fill your head with their new sounds; however, the good to bad ratio isn't equally proportioned at all. Finding the coolest new artist and becoming a day one fan is something that anyone would enjoy.
So why is it so hard? Of the many reasons why the process is such a struggle, there are two that handicap the task the most. First of all, as human beings of today, we're just naturally lazy. Time is too valuable to be spending hours at a time scanning with no guaranteed benefit. Also, it's really easy to get annoyed after you've heard 4 or 5 subpar songs in a row. The second reason that we never really get exposed to some of the newest artists and projects is because of the media. Sure a lot of media outlets will review or mention independent artists who have a really strong following, but what about the artists who just put out their first song yesterday? There has to be another way to hear about these artists before everyone else does.

I get it completely. It's never fun when you're the only person in the car with friends who doesn't know whose voice is coming through the speakers. So being the awesome person that I am, I have compiled a list of 20 good songs with under 20,000 plays on Sound Cloud. Yes! The blood, sweat, and tears have all been put in by yours truly. Some of the names you'll recognize, because TRR will always support its family first; others were unexpected findings on Sound Cloud. So check out the list, so you can be in the loop next time!
