Full Time: Average Annual Earnings by Industry and Gender( 2024)
Each row represents an industry in 2024. The horizontal bars show the average annual earnings for full-time male and female employees in that industry. Moving from left to right indicates higher earnings, while the labels on each row show the percentage difference between male and female average earnings. The dashed vertical lines provide reference points for overall average earnings – lighter blue for female average, and darker blue for male average, helping to place each industry in context.
Across most industries, average annual earnings for men are higher than for women. The largest gaps appear in Financial Intermediation and Electricity and Water Supply, where male earnings are substantially higher(> 50 %), while smaller differences are observed in areas such as Education and Real Estate and Business Activities. In Construction, the pattern reverses, with average female earnings exceeding male earnings by 11 %. Overall, the chart shows that earnings levels differ significantly by industry, and that gender-based differences in average pay are not uniform across the labour market but depend strongly on the industry in which people work
