Young and full of hope,

They signed up for the fight.

Air Force, Army and Navy proud,

For our country they held the light.

In England, France and Belgium,

Italy and Sicily too.

They marched right into Holland,

Where Liberation they secured.

Wally Floody flew a Spit Fire,

Shot down over France one day.

He became the 'Tunnel King',

And made way for the 'Great Escape'.

Along the coast of Normandy,

The target, a sandy beach.

Soldiers, ships and landing crafts,

And bombers pummelling the sea.

The Royal Canadian Army,

Her Navy and Air Force.

Six years they fought for freedom,

Brave and strong they stayed the course.

Today we have new Veterans,

From Afghanistan they come.

Battered broken souls,

Out of a war that can't be won.

These Vets are like no other,

Their minds need rest and care.

There was no DMZ to go,

Each day was lived in fear.

Let's all remember daily,

Not just on Remembrance Day.

To honour the fallen and those who live,

Learn PEACE, from hate, break away.
