nial Queen would be to have
fun and make friends with everybody she meets. Oh! Most
importantly, be humble.
What is your forte, when giving public speeches?
Everything I have been given
the opportunity to speak and
better understood though the
teachings and tools of Talking
God that deal with the home.
My friend Joanne Roan taught
me that within a home the mental, physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs
should be met. My grandma
Martina Curley had taught me
that Talking God is our example of perfection and gives the
blessings and teachings we
need to keep our homes in order. These teachings encompass and bring balance to everything in the universe so it
makes speaking easier for me.
Any stage fright? How do you
handle it?
I have stage fright when I am
under stage floodlights. It is
hard to deliver speeches or
perform when I can’t see somebody I know, like my mom or my
friend Sonja, in the audience.
When giving public speeches, what topic do you feel was
the most important to you?
And/Or…What is the single
most important message you
continue to convey to your
audience?
The most important message I
feel I communicate is the importance of prayer. It’s a tool to ask
for help and guidance in every
aspect of life and to show your
gratitude to your creator. Prayer
can be used in a very personal
way and it can be used to bring
people together.
Its election year, as a member
of the Navajo Tribe... What did
you learn and are convinced
are important issue(s) on the
Navajo Nation?
Humility.
What are your goals for the
next 5 years?
I want to receive a Master of
Business Administration. I have
considered competing for another title and I may consider it
again in a few months. Accomplishing my academic goals is
very important to me right now.
Maybe I’ll have a family by then.
We know you can sew… How
many outfits have you made
specifically
during
your
reign?
I made an outfit for Miss Tohatchi Middle School this past
weekend. My mom and I have
been making my outfits during
my reign. I’ve been cutting out
the patterns, since my mom is
the better and quicker sewer. I
have about fifteen skirts and ten
shirts we’ve made. I accumulated so much fabric this past year
that I didn’t even touch because
I was going to school full-time
and was busy with my events.
I am so glad Silverdust, downtown, carried skirts for when we
didn’t finish outfits in time.
What do you want to say to
all your current supporters,
colleagues, and the ceremonial office staff?
I would like express my appreciation to everyone who supported me and gave me encouragement during my reign. I was
grateful for the powerful friendships I have developed with
other young women who were
and are title holders across Indian Country. The Ceremonial
Board, the Navajo Nation, and
the City of Gallup has kept in
close contact with me and guided me throughout my reign and
for that I am thankful. Most of
all, I am thankful for my family,
my friends, and my mother.
