DeKalb Family Night

Stone Mountain Circuit Community Coordinator Sharon Almon coordinated and hosted the DeKalb 2nd Annual Family Night. 220 attended: 90 Probation & Parole (44 adults & 46 children), 35 Staff, 50 volunteers, and 45 community visitors). 13 Community Providers participated in providing health screenings, enrollment into the SNAP (Food Stamp Program), training and job leads. DeKalb Career Mobile was on site to provide access to 13 computers for resume development, training & job search. We provided 10,000 pounds of food to those we serve and the community, and distributed 26 raffles that were provided to those we serve and their families. The CSO's provided a safe environment & an opportunity for the children to secure candy. Many of the children were in costumes and enjoyed face painting and children's activities. Food, popcorn, cotton candy along with fun, fellowship and music enhanced the evening but most important there was a spirit of hope and, family that permeated the air!

Through the generosity of our sponsorship and donors who believe in second chances we were able to bring together the public and private sector and provide a wonderful night with a value of over $3,800 at no cost to DCS.
