MY TESTIMONY | Soror Tonya N. Jefferson (Fall 2012), Richmond Metro Area Colony

I

will never forget the day I asked a
colleague to write a recommendation
for my membership paperwork and the
very next day I was laid off. The aftermath
of Hurricane Sandy abou t 10 days later
not only destroyed the windshield of my
SUV, but also my dashboard. I thought
life would get better once I completed my
final induction on November 17, 2012, but
God has let me see some dark and dreary
days sprinkled with a few sunny days. I
managed to complete my MBA-Global
Management degree from the University of Phoenix prior to the membership
intake program (MIP)­ one of my
—
sunny days.
As of 2014, I am blessed with two part
time jobs: one as an Adjunct Professor

at Virginia Commonwealth University
and the other as an Account Executive at
Credit Restoration Associates. My 6-digit
student loan amount was consolidated this
month to one affordable payment. I have
not had health insurance for four years, so
I am elated to have Obamacare. Also, I no
longer have to stand in line to receive free
food twice a month like I did for a year. I
have also moved to a safer neighborhood
within the past five months, so I must give
God all the praise, honor, and glory for the
riches he has bestowed upon me.
I must heed Romans 12:12 and rejoice in
hope; be patient in tribulation; and continue instant prayer. Pray without ceasing.
