The Puppy Insider Issue 2 - July 2016 | Page 3

I reached college and still was super shy about everything but I started to open up a little bit more. I had my first boyfriend who helped me pick out my pup name, Dusty. During this time, I also started counseling at my university. While there, I was told that I have depression and anxiety stemming from a lot of my fears. This continued and is still continuing to this day in order to help keep these under control. I felt completely free of all of the struggles I was having with my anxiety and depression. My pack, Nano and Arlo, were very quick to comfort me, even though we weren’t super close at the time. They provided the help that I needed in order to keep myself moving through day to day life. Even today, we still get together almost monthly just to escape from reality and just have fun. Honestly, without pup play, I wouldn’t be where I am today and it helps me escape from my mental illnesses, even if just for a little while. The main thing, is that I found what works for me and that there is something for everyone. This last year, I was at a conference where I met some amazing pups. These pups became my pack and I was able to actually be a pup around somebody other than myself.
