More opportunities to discover the country
T o allow interested parties to discover the country before investing , the Mauritian government grants a range of nonpermanent residence permits to live in the country for a short or medium term . This is the case , for example , with the Retired Permit and the Premium Visa . While the former is intended for pre-retirees and retirees wishing to enjoy their golden years in Mauritius without having to work there , the latter is intended for a wider public , wishing to settle in Mauritius for a renewable period of one year while maintaining their status in their country of origin ( through remote working for instance ).
Between its launch in November 2020 and February 2021 , a balance sheet has been established for the Premium Visa :

• 337 approved applications
• 27 % of applications from France
• 9 % from India
• 7 % from the USA
• 7 % from Germany
• 6 % from South Africa
• 6 % from the UK
