Letting down the ladder to help others rise

By Lebogang Tsotetsi , PPS Communications Manager

Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country .

Having witnessed how the challenges experienced over the past two to three years impacted our work in the education space , this quote by J . F . Kennedy rings true , especially when one considers how our beneficiaries required more support from our organisation during this time .

This saying implored those who aided the PPS Foundation – including those with the potential and resources – to continue supporting the public benefit organisation . This support means that the PPS Foundation can roll out and extend its reach to more students who will form part of the graduate pipeline reserves
that will one day contribute to the success of South Africa .
We have often seen how education can impact society for the better , end poverty and allow those whose future seemed bleak to change the narrative for them and the communities in which they exist .
The quote reminds us of civic duty and implores citizens to take an active role in society and to consider the interests and concerns of other individuals in the community .
Even in the realities seen today , as the financial situation of many are challenged , student funding remains a critical point . This is because we still note students being unable to start , continue or complete their studies due to the lack of access to funding .
We are the ones we need
As we go through various life stages , specific experiences may shape our outlook on life . These experiences may also impact our passion for causes and our strong predisposition toward an activity , programme , organisation or group of people . This is where one devotes a lot of time and energy to ensure that the cause is supported and grows from strength to strength .
The PPS Foundation often engages professionals and like-minded organisations to contribute to its causes through donations . This is because we believe that humans ’ innate desire to find purpose in life drives them to give to others after reaching a certain level of actualisation – both in the personal and professional contexts . Giving has a way of returning the favour
