PPS Short-Term insurance launched

In 2011 the then PPS CEO Mike Jackson approached Nazeer Hoosen with a unique proposal : to build a short-term insurance company for PPS from scratch . The PPS proposition was exceptional as it was exclusive to members who represent but a fraction of the population .

The PPS Foundation was established in 2016 primarily to improve access to Science , Technology , Engineering and Mathematics ( STEM ) fields and contribute measurably to the sustainable development of South African communities , through PPS ’ s ethos of mutuality and shared success .
This it does through various programmes that :
• Empower school leavers with the necessary financial assistance , skills , competencies and knowledge to help them access tertiary education and academic qualifications ;

Because of the volatility of the short-term insurance market , the board insisted that the business partner with a well-established and successful partner . That partner was Santam . On 16 February 2016 PPS received its licence from the Financial Services Board and launched PPS Short-Term Insurance .
• Enhance job-readiness and skills to ensure that students qualify as professionals , leading to them becoming selfsustaining and economically empowered professionals ; and
• Offer bridging programmes , tools and mechanisms for beneficiaries transitioning from secondary to tertiary education , and from tertiary education to the workplace .
