At Leigh Diane decided to major in Chemical Engineering. The field had always interested her. As Diane applied for financial aid she also applied for grants and loans. Her grants and loans came from the government. As part of financial aid, Diane also participated in work study. Work study is where you have a job on campus and the amount of money you make goes towards your tuition. Diane would spend four to ten hours a week working in the Financial Aid Office or in the Learning Resources Center as part of work study. During the summer Diane also worked to help pay off her tuition. She would get summer jobs at restaurants, book manufacturers and at Leigh.

After college Diane had to pay back her loans and debts. Paying those off took a long time, but after her entire college education was paid off she knew it was worth it. Her parents and her guidance counselor were both big a help in paying off her tuition. She was the youngest in her family, so her parents had already gone through the money problems with her older siblings. They knew the best ways to help her find money. Diane’s guidance counselor also helped her through the tiring and stressful process of applying to college. Without the guidance counselor or her parents Diane may have never took the initiative to find money for college.

Overall, money did not stop Diane from her dreams. She persevered and worked towards her goal of graduating. She has completely paid her college tuition and now leads a successful life. If she had given up she would have never met her husband and would have never had three beautiful children.
