That’s it, if you were a good-looking individual all people could perceive you as a good person while inside you could be an evil. You could take advantage of your physical appearance to influence or control other people behaviors. Furthermore, the most important aspect mentioned in the article is that, “The Aesthetes thought that they could write the rules for beauty for everyone to follow and guide them to the House Beautiful.” (10) So here it is where the beauty standards or ideals start to appear and influence people’s minds and perceptions.
Adams mentions that, “Wilde believed that love of beauty was even more elemental, a human necessity”. (46) All of this can be perceived in almost all of his works, and The Importance of Being Earnest is not an exception. To sum up, for this reason, this article is an excellent resource for my research.
