Meconopsis punicea

‘Sichuan Silk’

This striking red Meconopsis is a perennial form of Meconopsis punicea, which is typically a monocarpic plant. It was found

on the Tibetan Plateau in 2003 by alpine plantsman Ian Christie,

on a trip organised by the Scottish Rock Garden Club, and

first flowered in 2005. It was awarded a preliminary

commendation in 2012 by the RHS & SRGC joint committee.

Cercis canadensis

‘RubyFalls

Bred by Dr Dennis Werner of North Carolina State University, ‘Ruby

Falls’ is the only purple-leaved weeping Cercis cultivar. This

deciduous plant bears bright purple/pink pea- like flowers in the spring before the emergence of heart- shaped leaves, which are a dark burgundy red and gradually becoming greener in appearance

through the summer. Elegant, pedulous habit. Fully hardy down to-

26°C and will grow in well - drained soils of average pH.

Height from 1.2m, making it suitable for small gardens and large containers. Launched in the US in 2010 but not available in Europe until now

Delosperma Fire Spinner (‘Poo1s’)

Discovered by Panayoti Kelaidis in South Africa, this delosperma is very hardy, tolerating both hot and cold temperatures. It flowers from May onwards and has a similar habit to D. nubigenum

but with many moreflowers.
