100 years on and Fatima and the young seers are known all over the world.
We rejoice at the canonisation of the two youngest children. They have been
canonised because of their devotion and their steadfastness in fulfilling
those requests.
In England and Wales, the World Apostolate
of Fatima and the National Statue of our
Lady of Fatima have been travelling across
the country to visit cathedrals in England,
Wales and Scotland. In June, the statue was
welcomed at Our Lady of the Assumption
and St Gregory in Warwick
Street, the principal church of
the Ordinariate.
At this visit, Mass was
celebrated
using
Divine
Worship, which is the Missal
permitted for use within the Ordinariate. It contains elements
of Anglican liturgy and certainly has an impact. Music was, as
usual, provided by the choir to its usual high standard. Several
Marian hymns were included and the congregation and the
choir resumed their attempts to raise the roof. At the end of
mass, there was an Act of Consecration to the Immaculate
Heart of Mary. Following this we were given the opportunity
to venerate the relics of Ss Francisco and Jacinta. There were
then various acts of worship to conclude the day.
A Eucharistic Procession

a very hot day, and at 1730 it was still
extremely warm in Central London. Nevertheless,
the faithful gathered inside Our Lady and St Gregory,
Warwick Street. Many more were left outside. Five
thuribles, a host of servers, priests deacons and Mgr
Keith Newton, all vested is glorious apparel.
The Missionaries of Charity, Sisters of the
Community of the Resurrection from Poland
accompanied the Knights of Malta, Ordinariate
members, people from the congregation of St
James’ Spanish Place as well as Catholics from
a wide area; all took part in the Procession
through the streets of London. The Procession
caused quite a stir. One young couple asked
Dwayne, the steward near us, what it was all
about. He told them it was a Catholic Procession
and they joined in!
