Ponte Vedra Recorder ·September 10, 2015 Friday, Sept. 11 Pete’s Turn Golf Tournament A golf tournament in honor of Pete Rodrigues will be hosted at the Atlantic Beach Country Club on Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. Proceeds will go to “Pete’s Turn,” a donation-driven project to create a memorial building for Rodrigues at the Atlantic Beach Country Club. Cost to participate in the net scramble format is $150 per ABCC member, $200 f or ABCC guests and $1,250 for non-member foursomes. The cost includes golf play, a tee prize and appetizers after play. New Cultural Center Art Exhibitions Two new art exhibitions will be on display at the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach beginning Friday, Sept. 11. From Nature, with original works by David Engdahl and Mary Williamson will be on display in the main gallery, and New Directions, a group exhibition with works by more than twenty advanced acrylic students, will be on display in the Scene gallery. The auto show, 180 collector’s cars will compete to capture one of the prestigious trophies from 30+ categories. The 2015 show will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Porsche 993, the 20th & 25th anniversary of the ZR1 Corvette and a vintage motorcycle exhibit spanning 100 years of the motorcycle will be on display. Zappa Plays Zappa at PV Concert Hall The 17th annual Sisters of the Sea Surf Classic presented by LuvSurf is Saturday, Sept. 12 at 8 a.m. on the south side of the Jacksonville Beach Pier. This is one of the largest all-girl surf contests in the nation with divisions for novice and advanced surfers as well as Stand Up Paddle. his family event has raised over $70,000 for Bosom Buddies’ at the Women’s Center of Jacksonville, a non-profit organization providing education and support for women and families dealing with breast cancer.
