Natural Disasters
Pomfret forrest, like any other piece of land suffers from natural disaters. There are multiple forms of natural disasters that can strike such as severe wind, snow, rain. It is easy to find evidence of natural disasters and its effect on the forrest through the trees. If you find a collection of trees that have all snapped and fallen in the same direction that is the result of severe wind storms.

Regrowth
After trees are destroyed either by the work of people or through natural disasters it is only normal for the trees to grow back. When a tree is cut down to the stump it is possible for that stump to continue to grow even without leaves, the roots take over as the prime source for collecting energy. As well as the stump itself, a new tree can start to grow on top of the stump or within the stump of the old tree. It is even possible for multiple stumps to be the foundation of a tree.
