BOYS ’ CRICKET

1st XI

The win / loss ratio does not give a true reflection of the quality of season that this group of students have had . The brand of cricket that Captain Harry Jackson has demanded from them all , has been exceptional – several games could so easily have had a different result . Harry has led the team with great skill and always leading from the front .

2nd XI

One of my favourite seasons of 2nd XI cricket , despite the lack of fixtures . The boys have played some fantastic cricket this season , with notable highlights being the batting of Freddie Taylor and Will Jones , who both scored half centuries . Bowling highlights came from Kai Ogawa , Tom Councell and Tharian Suraj , who all played with passion and took
His batting has been of the highest standard , culminating in two centuries – one of 45 balls and the other 54 balls . He has received excellent support from Toby Williamson and Harry Holland , who have also scored heavily , and we witnessed Harvey Laverack compile his first half century for the 1st XI .
The bowling has been well led by the emergence of Tom Dicconson , who has received good support from Harry Jackson ( who grabbed a hat-trick against
valuable wickets across the season .
The team cohesion has been brilliant , with a group of players coming together every week and playing with a smile , whilst also producing some performances to be proud of .
Special note must be given to those who have played even though cricket hasn ’ t been their natural game ; however , the standard has been much higher than I have known .
Hill House ), Flynn Sangwin , Olly Rook and Henry Green .
All in all , it has been a very enjoyable season seeing this group develop and work together , and see them enjoy each other ’ s success .
Full Colours : Harry Jackson and Harry Holland
Half Colours : Toby Williamson and Henry Green
Even after defeats against St Peter ’ s and Barnard Castle , the boys produced cricket far better than the opposition expected , and both games went to the final over . The stonking victory over Hymers will live in my memory and I look forward to reporting it next year .
Player of the Season : Freddie Taylor
Most Improved Player : Edward Spink

U15 XI

The U15 cricket squad has fielded a spirited team of players . The results haven ’ t often gone our way , but there has always been a strong sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship amongst the lads . There are some skilful and enthusiastic cricketers moving up to the seniors next year .
Players of the Season : Harvey Laverack and Tom Hutchinson
Most Improved Player : Max Innes
Special Awards ( for scoring 50s whilst playing up an age group or two ): Tom Rook and Dan Rees-Gay
