U15A VII

The A team have made strong progress this term and have gelled well as a team . The girls are very versatile in their playing positions and having different combinations really help us play against strong opposition . The girls have improved as the season has progressed , with their recent win against Scarborough College demonstrating this . Ella Smith has captained the A team brilliantly and can play any position on court very well . Our defensive unit of Ruby Watson , Evie Nightingale , Carys Heaney and Polly Raper have worked tirelessly to win ball and give our attack chances to score . Charlie Lindley , Cristina Martinez Alcaide and Erin Fox have been fantastic in the midcourt to transfer the ball into attack and support our shooters . Georgina Hill , Jess Groombridge , Ella Smith and Hattie Cobb have all shown some wonderfully accurate shooting against strong opposition . A massive well done to all the girls , it has been a pleasure to coach you this season !

U14A VII

The season kicked off in style with an away match at Woodhouse Grove . The girls were excited and optimistic about the season ahead – and they we right to be ! A solid team performance , despite having not played together competitively in the last year , the girls put on a superb performance against a skilled Woodhouse Grove side . A narrow loss of 13-12 demonstrated that there was a lot to be looking forward to for the matches ahead of us . The team was captained superbly by Izzy Dimmack , whose energy on court was hard to match by many of our opponents . Izzy was not alone in displaying this energy – the entire squad bounced off each other ’ s positivity in games sessions , practices and matches – the girls were a joy to be around !
Hymers were the next side to put us through our paces . We started strong and matched them goal for goal in the first two quarters , but we suffered due to the cold and our opposition ’ s relentless pace , finishing the match with a 22-9 loss . This was to be our biggest loss of the season . On the back of that result , the girls trained hard , pushed each other on and responded incredibly as we then began our winning streak . Mount St Mary ’ s , Hill House , Scarborough College , Tranby , and Barnard Castle all gave us the back-to-back wins we were working for . Confidence was high and team spirit was even better !
Mentions must go to our outstanding defensive unit of Niamh Cowen , Zahra Hasanbasoglu and Lucy Farnell who really were formidable in our goal third . Molly Stones and Flora Myers took the WD position and made it their own , often receiving the turnovers to counterattack our opponents . Izzy Dimmack , Clara Stewart and Emily Jones were a skilled mid-court unit , providing our attackers with many great opportunities at goal . Belle Sweeting offered a classy and dynamic performance on a weekly basis , aided superbly by Emily Marshall and Jemima Councell , who must be the most versatile young player around !
This season has been one of the most fulfilling and enjoyable I have known as a coach . The girls drove the energy , the passion and the love of the game . They supported , challenged , and celebrated each other and I am excited to watch how they grow individuals and as a unit as they progress through the school . The future of netball at Pock is bright with these young ladies at the helm .
