SPORT // GIRLS ’ HOCKEY

U14B XI

This season the U14Bs have shown excellent progression in training . In their fixtures to-date , against Read School and Barnard Castle , the squad demonstrated excellent teamwork , determination , and improved the scorecard . Well done to all for working on their game awareness and being fierce in attack .
The squad could develop its ball progression up from defence ; however , this will come with game time and experience . There is true depth to the U14 squad going into next year – keep working hard everyone !

U13A XI

What can I say about the mighty U13As ? The girls got off to a rocky start and struggled to find their feet early in the season , losing four out of the first five games against some undoubtedly strong opposition .
However , from then on , it was full steam ahead . The girls played a ruthless and clinical form of hockey that led them on a four-game winning streak , including an exceptional performance in the In2Hockey tournament , winning all four games in convincing fashion . Then came the rematch of the season – St Peter ’ s . The girls had lost 4-0 earlier in the season , but we were a different team this time round . The girls put in a great performance ; however , lacked the ruthlessness they had shown throughout their winning streak , narrowly losing 3-2 to a strong side .
As a coach , I could not be prouder of the girls and how they have developed as a team and individuals this season . They should hold their heads high . Special mention must go to Tabitha Speight for how she has captained the girls all year – she has led by example in all aspects of the game .

U13B XI

The girls have had an excellent season this year ; there have been some great wins , including a 10-0 win over Giggleswick School and a 6-2 win over Read School . The girls have progressed with their stick skills and have gelled well as a team unit .
Alice Roberts , Kirsten Carter and Katy Brown have been consistently brilliant in defence throughout the season and have been well backed up by Alex Williman in goal . Sophie Williams , Lisa De Klein and Ruby Annetts have worked unbelievably hard in the midfield , and Kate Anderson and Charlotte Shephard have been scoring some brilliant goals in attacking positions .
I have no doubt that lots of these girls will make the A team next year , when they move to full pitch . I wish them the best of luck as they continue their hockey journeys ! Well done , girls .
