BOARDING //

ORCHARD

It has , as ever , been an eventful year for the boarders of Orchard House ! Michaelmas Term began very differently , as we merged into Faircote House for two terms to become ‘ Orchard @ Faircote ’. This experience , while a little daunting , brought so many wonderful opportunities – not only for the junior boarders of Orchard , but Faircote ’ s senior girls too . I was enormously impressed by the fantastic house spirit that developed from the youngest to the oldest – it was so rewarding to see them cheering each other on at school events , or enjoying activities together , including baking , board games , and trips out .
This year , it has been a pleasure to get back to some more adventurous and further afield Sunday outings ! Boarders have enjoyed Flamingo Land , zorbing , lazer tag , the Yorkshire Wildlife Park , Let Loose , and ice-skating , amongst many others !
While we were sad to say goodbye to Faircote ( there have been many visits since !), it was exciting in the Summer Term to move back into Orchard House , welcoming 10 new international students for the summer and as well as new staff – our housekeeper , Miss Baxter , and our resident tutor , Mrs Atha .
I will remember this Summer Term as one filled with music , laughter and friendship across the whole house . Every event or outing ( even just walking over to tea ) was accompanied by enthusiastic singing – a particular highlight for me was hearing ‘ Let It Go ’ sung in English , French and Spanish simultaneously !
There is never a ‘ normal ’ year ( let alone week !) in boarding , and I ’ m excited to see what the next one brings .
