SCHOOL NEWS // DOFE & CHRISTMAS TREE

DUKE OF EDINBURGH ’ S AWARD

It has been a steep climb since our cancelled year of expeditions , but we have concluded our season in fine style . As it should be , a wealth of valuable lessons were learned at Bronze , our Silver boys turned in a quality performance borne of experience , and our Gold girls proved to be the strongest group we have ever seen at this school .
The weather has brought its typical range , from driving rain , storms , blistering sunshine and the threat of wildfires , but our students have risen to the challenge . DofE , at its heart , is about learning from experience , and the expedition element especially , allows that chance like nothing else I know .
As I close my final season as DofE Coordinator , I would like to thank all those who have supported the programme over the years , and all those students who pushed themselves to succeed .

An Eco-Christmas Tree

We contributed to the Christmas Tree by creating an effective acorn design on lino-print . We inked it on to brown paper which is easily recycled . We also produced cards using the same print .
In addition we also used recycled pages to produce paper chains , and we recycled the bunting stars from old , used cardboard boxes .
