Unsurprisingly , Covid regulations resulted in huge disruption to the cricket programme this term , with most of our traditional fixtures being lost . Nevertheless , we did manage to play three games : our first and last fixtures were lost to Ampleforth and St .
Peter ’ s , respectively , but in between , we managed to defeat Hymers at home , by the considerable margin of 75 runs .
The player of the season was undoubtedly Oliver Rook , who took wickets with both leg-spin and seamup bowling and scored 245 runs in three innings , without being dismissed , deservedly earning promotion to the 1st
XI . The most improved player was Joe Clark , who transferred to cricket from tennis three weeks into term and taught himself to bowl by watching YouTube clips ; an amazing achievement !

Our next outing was an away match at Hymers College . A couple of key absences , owing to illness and injury , put a lot of pressure on our batting lineup , who struggled to play the slippery conditions . Despite a stoic performance by Campbell with the bat , we were all out for 60 within 17 overs ... run outs being the order of the day ! Hymers didn ’ t take long to see the total off ( winning by eight
