Although we could not conjure a fairy tale ending to the season against a powerful and impressive St . Olave ’ s side this should not undermine what was a glorious season . In many ways , the final game summarised the season perfectly with both sides showing excellent offensive play , particularly in the carrying and contact phases , and full-bore commitment .
All season this brave home side have exhibited excellent offloading skills and groundwork and when on song their adventurous play was spectacularly successful . Nearly every performance though has been tempered by us needing to focus on our defensive game and occasionally we have been found wanting . As this excellent group of players now looks to focus on the shortened version of the game , they must keep one eye on their future where they have an important duty to work , as a team , to close players down and execute first-up tackles .
One of the best sides I have coached
- ever , and certainly one of the best in the school , they must remember that they are only as good as the opposition they play and the weaknesses they are prepared to work on .
Keep your feet firmly on the ground lads and always remember what happened on the first team pitch at St . Peter ’ s .

A promising campaign from a squad with great depth and a highly competitive nature . Of their six games played they have demonstrated fearlessness , power and pace going forward along with an improved ability to win and control possession at the breakdown . On the back foot they have largely held firm and when playing at full strength have proven very difficult for the opposition to break down . With ball in hand they have worked tirelessly to support one another through the tackle line and take the game to their opposition .
One of the team ’ s greatest attributes has been their ability to strike their opponent from anywhere on the pitch , such is the depth of talent and power in the squad that we have enjoyed this season . These boys will indeed be a squad to watch as the years roll on and no doubt continue to complement and support their respective A team squad as it evolves through the school .
