SCHOOL NEWS // STAFF LEAVERS
WENDY WRIGHT
It is incredible to think of the roles that Wendy has been juggling over the years but you wouldn ’ t know most of the time ; Wendy is so professional , calm , dedicated and unbelievably organised ! In fact , we were often awestruck by Wendy ’ s organisation skills which are on another level . If Wendy left cover , it was printed , stuck down , copied , filed , clearly labelled and her “ Mrs Wright ’ s teaching resources ” box housed such fun and exciting things which she used to engage , enthuse and inspire pupils . Wendy ’ s creativity and superb organisation skills are certainly something to aspire to ! Wendy was so caring about the pupils she taught and invested her time in each pupil , pushing them to achieve the best they could . Wendy has also been such a fantastic support to Louise with the German Exchange and she will always have fond memories of sitting enjoying the fire and blueberry tea with Wendy and Ian whilst entertaining their German friends . Vielen Dank !
We have all loved working alongside Wendy and we had very mixed emotions when she told us her exciting news of the move to Kenya . Firstly , we were so sorry to lose such a fantastic colleague but then so excited for her and Ian for their next chapter ( along with a bit of jealousy wishing we were going too !). I am sure they leave with many happy memories of Pocklington and we wish Wendy , Ian , Will and Emily all the very best for their new , exciting chapter . We hope you have a fabulous experience ; but don ’ t forget about us back here in Pocklington and we will look forward to some FaceTimes and an insight into your new life in Kenya .

EMMA ROBERTSHAW
From the day Emma started her role as a Resident Sports Graduate in September 2018 , it was clear to see the passion she has for a range of sports and coaching children to be the best that they can be . A natural games player , Emma has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role and her particular expertise in Hockey and Tennis has been valued by both staff and students alike .
Both on and off the sports field , Emma quickly became known for her high standards and expecting the very best of all students she coached ; this expectation generated respect from those around her and she has been a reliable member of the Sports Department whom we could always count upon to work with initiative and commitment in her drive to raise the bar .
Emma has formed some strong relationships during her time at Pocklington . Early on , the students picked up on Emma ’ s willingness to listen with an understanding ear and she would work hard to find a solution to a problem hence why many of the students are sad to see her go ; one of Emma ’ s greatest assets is that she always makes time for the individual and this is something both staff and colleagues have been very grateful for . Emma has been a valued and integral part of both Faircote and Orchard Boarding Houses as well as the Prep School Games Department - all of which have also benefitted from her coaching ability , her passion for the job and her empathy and warmth towards children of all ages . We wish Emma all the very best in her future away from Pocklington and we thank her for everything she has offered to the many areas of the school . With the qualities she holds as a coach , a colleague and a person , her future career path will no doubt be a remarkable success .

PAUL STONE
Paul Stone joined us , and his son Stanleigh , after 28 years in the Light Dragoons and from the British Army Training Suffield where he had been warfare trainer and then Regimental Sergeant Major . It is hard to imagine folding that long frame of his into a scout car even if it was armoured . Paul made the transition adapting to his new role leading Domestic Services almost seamlessly and made it his own , controlling contracts and directing our cleaning staff . He has thrived and will be sorely missed . Paul acquired Canadian citizenship , and he and his family are moving to Canada in August for a new life in Calgary and a post as maintenance supervisor in the workshops of Canadian Pacific . He leaves with our thanks and best wishes for a new life . And the skiing .

Lynn has been a valuable asset to our Catering team since joining us as a Catering Assistant back in 2006 . After 14 years at the Foundation , she has recently decided to enjoy a well-earned retirement and will be leaving us on 4 July 2020 .
We haven ’ t been able to put a full thank you together in time for this staff leavers document , but will make sure that Lynn gets her proper farewell next year with an invitation to the Governors ’ Garden Party .
All the very best for the future Lynn .
