LUISA GARCIA
It has been an absolute pleasure to get to know Luisa over the past year and she has brought so much to her role as Spanish Language Assistant and her cheery smile has never failed to brighten our days !
She has brought Colombian culture to life in our classrooms and we are so grateful for her hard work with GCSE and A Level pupils - they have all benefitted hugely from her guidance and support . Her help and support have also been very much appreciated by colleagues ; Luisa always offered to help out where she could . The department and our pupils , the L6 Spanish class in particular , are extremely sorry to see Luisa go but we wish her luck and give her our best wishes for her move to Italy with her lovely family . Gracias Luisa y ¡ mantente en contacto !
We are very sad and sorry that we have to say a virtual goodbye but rest assured we will have a proper send off for our 3 amazing colleagues as soon as we are allowed ! The department won ’ t be the same without them .

MR HUTCHINGS ’ NEW BOOK EXPLORES THE BIGGEST QUESTIONS OF THEM ALL !
January saw the release of Mr Hutchings ’ latest Science – Philosophy – Religion blockbuster : God , Stephen Hawking and the Multiverse . It uses Hawking ’ s work on the past , present , and future of our Universe ( or maybe even Universes ) to discuss what the Cosmologist called the ‘ Big Questions ’: Where did we come From ? Why are we here ? Is there a God ?
The book has gone down well with the experts – Dr Althea Wilkinson of Jodrell Bank Observatory said ‘ If you wanted to understand Stephen Hawking but couldn ’ t face the maths , this is the book for you ’, whilst the former president of the Philosophy of Time Society , William Lane Craig , called it ‘ An astonishingly good read , gripping and thoughtprovoking ’.
Since its release , Mr Hutchings has had multiple invitations to speak on its contents , including at a conference at Oxford University . The coronavirus pandemic saw some of these slots change to online ones , so you can now find him talking about Black Holes , Quantum Mechanics , and the existence of God on YouTube !
God , Stephen Hawking and the Multiverse is co-authored by Professor David Wilkinson of Durham University , and the illustrations are by none other than Pocklington School ’ s very own Magnus Swann . It is available on Amazon and at most bookshops – make sure you get yourself a copy whilst there is still time …
