SPORT// GIRLS’ HOCKEY / ROUNDERS U12 XI The Bs have enjoyed a large number of fixtures and have played very well. Polly Raper has worked very well indeed in defence, with Amy Colley and Rose Whelan supporting well as goalkeeper. Tilly Young has also worked conscientiously throughout the season. U12 A = P8 / W5 / D0 / L3 U12 B = P9 / W2 / D3 / L4 U12 C = P6 / W3 / D1 / L2 The Cs and Ds have also done very well, with the D team finishing the season unbeaten! U12 D = P2 / W2 / D0 / L0 The U12s have had a strong season and have shown excellent commitment to their hockey, with virtually the whole year group attending after school practices each week. The As are an able team who have had some excellent victories this term. They have been defeated on a few occasions but have been prepared to learn from these experiences. Niamh Clements and Carys Haeney have been two key members of the team, and have really shown their experience with the game. Islay Cunliffe-Lister has worked tirelessly alongside Erin Fox in defence, and Ella Smith has worked hard to improve her skills. Very well done to all the girls for their excellent dedication this term. The regular members of the squad have been all Lower Sixth girls, who have worked really well together and have made working with them such a delight. Unfortunately they have only had two matches, both of which they lost very narrowly. U15 P6 / W1 / D1 / L4 A mixed season for the girls in terms of winning, but an amazing season in terms of progress and team spirit! 60 rounders scored on average per match but these were just not enough to win against our opponents. Silcoates 72 THE POCKLINGTONIAN and encouragement of the other members of the team. Katie Williams deserves a mention for her superb batting and excellent commitment. Freya Stewart has been a most reliable member of the squad, as have Evie Hirst, Hannah East, Emilia Couttie and Izzie Watson. Player of the Season: Katie Williams Hebe Quinney has been an excellent captain, thanks to her commitment Most Improved Player: Molly Parker will always be a memorable match, with us winning in the last innings by just two rounders. The girls know they need to work on big hits for future success, their fielding certainly improved as the season went on and we stopped many teams from scoring full rounders. However, they still need to work on long, strong and fast throws back to fourth post after an opponent’s big hit. Girls, it’s been a pleasure to work with you again and I wish you the best of luck as you move on to senior rounders. Most Improved Player: Lucy Rogers Player of the Season: Louisa Smith
