SPORT// NETBALL / BOYS’ HOCKEY U12B VII P5 / W2 / D0 / L3 seen many players playing in many positions and I look forward to next year when those positions start to gel. The U12B’s have fought hard this season and their win rate doesn’t reflect how well they have played. We have There has been a big improvement in all players as the term has progressed and they should be U12C VII The U12C’s have not had many fixtures this term, however in the couple they have had they worked very hard and showed that they have taken on board what they have been taught. proud with where they are now. Player of the Season: Esme Regan Most Improved Players: Amy Colley and Georgina Hamblin Player of the Season: Lucy Coles Well done girls. Most Improved Players: Edie Morris and Penny Gibson The second half of term saw strong performances against Bradford and Silcoates in the same week! season, he has led by example and has received excellent support from the entire squad. St Peters came to conquer and were held to a 1 - 1 draw. This was the team’s most complete display, fully of passion and desire and a true reflection of were the boy’s hockey has progressed to at the school. Full School Hockey Colours: Dan Isenstein, Will McMullen BOYS’ HOCKEY 1st XI P15 / W7 / D2 / L6 The first half of the season saw the boys off to a strong start with a hard fought win against Ashville, Yarm were too strong on the day, Hymers was snow bound, St Peters 2nd XI were blown away as we dominated throughout, against Ampleforth we were found wanting and Yarm we couldn’t close the game out! 2nd XI P6 / W0 / D3 / L3 It has been a thoroughly enjoyable season for the 2nd XI. The team has been well-led by Will Heywood who has consistently demonstrated an energy and determination in defence (and he has set the bar very high in terms of the provision of half time drinks and snacks for team). There have been some excellent results; a hard fought draw against Peters, and confident, resilient performances against Yarm Half School Hockey Colours: Jack Houghton, Marcus Chacksfield We have been indebted to Hamish Broadbent’s leadership for a second and Ashville have exemplified the spirit of the season. Dan Laing has been a long-serving stalwart of the 2nd XI and, although he didn’t match his scoring achievements of last year, he has lost none of his pace and endeavour down the left hand side. It has been great to welcome new members to the squad - not least late-comer Alejandro Cortes, whose unorthodox style and direct, attacking forays into the ‘D’ have bemused opposition defenders on many occasions. Lower Sixth and Fifth form players have also really made their mark and they will no doubt play a significant part in the future of Senior Hockey. We are already looking forward to next year which promises much from the progress made this season. Well done all - tremendous fun.
