Betula pendula

This tree reaches 30 m. high. It is a
medium-sized deciduous tree that owes its
common name to the white peeling bark on
the trunk.
You can find them in the northern
hemisphere, only at higher altitudes.
Flowers
The flowers are catkins
and the winged seed get
widely scattered by the
wind (anemophilous).
It has a long, yellowish-
greenish colored cones.
Leaves
The twigs are slender
and often pendulous and
the leaves are roughly
triangular with doubly
serrate margins and turn
yellow in autumn before
they fall.
Fruit
The fruit is a samara with two
wings. They come off in
groups of 3 next to the bract.
They
form
a
compact
cylindrical
cluster
that
disintegrates with time. It is
a kind of easy germination and
dissemination.
