I know The Unlikely Hero is fixing to drop a new album. How excited is the band to get out and tour so everyone can hear how hard you have been working on it?
This EP has been in the works for a very long time now, and we couldn’t be happier with the finished product. We can’t wait to hit the road and finally share these songs with the world! We are so proud of this EP andthink it will be the perfect introduction to The Unlikely Hero.
How would you describe your sound?
That’s a tough question, we definitely have influences from all across the board. However, I think that this EP can, for the most part, be filed under PopPunk. If I had to guess I’d say it will probably bring to mind bands like All Time Low and Mayday Parade.
What company did you use to record the album and how smooth was the recording process?
We recorded all of the tracks at Nightsky Studios in Waldorf, MD with lead producer Ron Vento. Most albums are recorded instrument after instrument, where each guy goes in one at a time and tracks all of his parts for every song. But we took an unconventional approach. We would spend a few days concentrating on just one song at a time. It took longer and cost us more money, but this way it feels like each song on the record has its own "personality.” Each song has it’s own specific guitar tones, effects, drum sounds, and I was able to really get in the mood for each individual song when it came time to record vocals. I think the way we went about recording allowed us to more effectively express what these songs mean, and that’s the most important thing to me.
