sunny wisdom Hi New Friends! We’re Kit and Toonces, two playful kitties living in the Big Apple. As young kitties, we’re not even one year old, it can be easy to feel invincible. After all, we do have nine lives! But, recently we’ve been thinking a lot about prevention since we want to spend all of our nine lives in tiptop shape. After our mom lost her cat Curmudgeon to stomach cancer last summer, she helped us see the importance of a healthy lifestyle, which we generously decided to share with all of you. Below you’ll find what we like to call, “Kit and Toonces Top 3 Tips for a Healthy Life:” 1. Diet: As much as we love the occasional treat, we’ve had to cut back. While there’s nothing wrong with indulging every once in a while, say after you use the litter box, it is easy to get carried away. After months of stuffing our faces, we started to notice a change in our bodies and energy levels. So, with much convincing, we got our mom and dad to get us a healthier brand of food. Then we cut back on treats and drank much more water. Would you believe it, we started to feel better! 2. Exercise: As most of you know, exercise is one of the best things you can do. Not only does it help keep you in shape, it increases your energy level, improves sleep, and helps support a positive mood. Our favorite time to exercise is between 4am and 7am. We do a mix of cardio and kitty yoga. We find it best to exercise with a friend, this way, we can hold ourselves accountable. When one of us is feeling especially lazy, the other is around to start a rousing game of “Chase the Tail” or to initiate some kitty yoga stretches. We recommend getting at least 30 minutes of exe rcise everyday and to switch up your routine. 3. Sleep: One of our favorite pastimes is sleeping. After an hour or two of vigorous play, 10% OFF Hi friends, Pick up a ll your pe t supplies at Pet Sup plies Plus and tell them Sun ny sent y ou! Don’t forg et to write to me at: sunn y@thepink paper.com Peace out, Sunny we have a big meal, and cuddle up together for a long nap. The best time to get restorative sleep is between the hours of 10pm and 2am. We used to love staying up late with our mom and dad, but we started feeling sluggish during our normal morning workout so we promised ourselves we’d start a bedtime routine. First, we do something to relax, like cuddle. You may want to take a bath. Next, we find a place where it’s cool, dark, and free of distractions. Most of the time this is under the bed, you may want to sleep on your bed. We make sure to sleep for at least six straight hours before waking up for our morning workout. Make sure to limit distractions and you’ll be sure to wake up refreshed and energized just like us. So there you have it, if you follow our tips you’ll be feeling and acting kitten like in no time!
