Buying Organic mindful eating Wondering why to buy organic? The 2008-2009 President’s Cancer Panel recommends eating food grown without pesticides, as well as chemicals, fertilizers, antibiotics and growth hormones to help decrease the risk of contracting cancer. Organic doesn’t allow: toxic persistent pesticides, toxic persistent herbicides, antibiotics, GMO’s, growth hormones, sludge and irradiation. Wondering what to buy organic? Let’s face it, sometimes buying organic can be more expensive. EWG’s Shoppers Guide is a wonderful place to start. Look over the lists and you decide when to stretch your buying dollars and when to put your health first. Being informed helps us make better choices. According to EWG the “plus” was added to their list of twelve because kale / collards and summer squash where found to be contaminated with risky pesticides that are very toxic to the nervous system.
