The Perverse Playhouse - Event Evaluation The Perverse Playhouse - Event Evaluation | Page 11
Ensuring suppliers, volunteers and
actors are of a high quality - The
majority of external suppliers for The
Perverse Playhouse (actors, volunteers,
photographers, venue) performed to an
exceptional standard and did not lower
the anticipated high quality of the
event. This was incredibly important as
low quality suppliers can impact the
whole event for attendees including
their satisfaction level (Reiss, 2010).
The escape game supplier (escExit) co-
created excellent game concepts with a
variety of multisensory elements as the
design planned outlined, however, the
execution was well below the level
expected and as such, result in 3 out of
4 of the games failing (some
locks/combinations were not correctly
deployed by supplier) and additional
clues/hints had to be provided which
was disappointing. This was reflected in
attendee feedback in which the quality
of the escape games were marked
average by the majority of
respondents. Other feedback included
comments on how the game errors
resulted in a lack of ‘a feeling of
accomplishment’. The majority of the
written comments did provide positive
feedback explaining how they felt
completely immersive due to the high
level of theming.
8 volunteers were secured 2 weeks
before the event was due to take
place, however, 4 people dropped out
within a few days of the event meaning
operational plans needed to be
redesigned to cater for a much lower
number of staff. This caused a major
on-the-night income stream to be
abandoned (mug shots) resulting in a
considerably lower income amount on
the night.
Living up to the reputation of
competitors - This threat was used as
an advantage, it was used in word of
mouth marketing techniques. A lot of
people had heard of Secret Cinema so
it was easy to explain the event
through comparison.
