Locklin could not believe it, the God of technology had heard his prayers after
all, and was granting him the only thing he had ever wanted.
He couldn't wait to get started on it. He ran back home with an even faster pace
than when he came down despite the steep mountains as he was pumped up
with a lot of adrenaline from all the excitement.
He still wondered what that last part of the dream meant. He studied the
machine from the instructions in the scroll and thought it probably meant he
would be able to build it. ‘This is good!’ he thought.
‘But why is it taking pictures of the darkness? Perhaps Janet will not live to see
it.’ His heart ached as he tried to interpret the last scene of his dream.
Locklin was resolved to build the machine. He had made that decision when he
left the healer’s house that morning and when he saw Janet, he knew he had to
build it for the sake of his sanity.
