I think I want to make carrot soup or beef stew; I could eat either of that with garlic bread. I quickly do a stock count in my head: I have tomatoes, onion, broccoli, stewing beef and potatoes. I better remember to get the bread and the carrots in case I’ m too hungry to wait for the beef to cook, besides both meals require carrots. I came to the market looking for a woollen hat to cover my untamed hair, I’ m pretty sure it looks like I was just electrocuted and that there is brown, red and orange leaves stuck in it: the joys of having course hair. Every stall owner is shouting out loud“ R15 for a hat; R20 for a hat and gloves; be quick before the man with the bargains is gone” and there are a group of people at the man with the bargains stall. I decide to stop at this woman carrying a kid on her back my heart just melted at the site of her child he looked about a year old with a smile on his face and he was playing with what looked like a dream catcher which hung above his mother’ s head. She had socks and many other arty things, like bracelets made of beads on her table. She seemed to be trading some tourist attractive stuff instead of just winter clothes. Next to the dream catchers hung scarves of all sorts and one in particular caught my attention it was a mixture of red and orange colour, it was made of cotton and it had a pattern that looked like objects are protruding out of the material, I decided I’ d take it and a simple dark blue woollen hat. The nice lady insisted I try both things on. I struggle to open the clear plastic bag carrying the hat meanwhile she attempts to make small talk:“ that looks beautiful on you, it will attract the right kind of man” we both laugh as I blush thinking of my earlier thoughts about finding the perfect guy for autumn it had not occurred to me that I needed to be the right autumn person for that guy as well.“ You remind me of someone especially when you blush” she says,“ do I remind you of someone as well?” she asks“ I hadn’ t given that any thought, why do you ask?” well it’ s just the way in which you approached my stall it was as if you’ d come to
