Arlington Animal Services is happy to share our Clear the Shelters Event was a huge success . Our shelter alone had a total of 173 pets adopted during the adoption campaign which ran August 10- September 10 . A total of 49 pets were adopted during the first week which featured waived adoption fees . NBC 5 , Dallas-Fort Worth reported a total of 8,647 pets were adopted from participating cities and rescues from across our metroplex . We are so thankful for the awareness this yearly adoption campaign continues to bring and how it puts a national spotlight on homeless pets in need . We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hills Pet Nutrition , NBCUniversal , Greater Good Charities and local sponsors such as Three Dog Bakery in Arlington for sponsoring the event as well as providing families with the promotional items and educational materials which help promote responsible pet ownership .
