Looking for a happy, playful, toy-loving pup with the cutest face you’ ve ever seen? Look no further than Buck, our one-and-a-half-year-old shepherd mix who weighs in at a perfect 53 pounds of pure joy.
Buck is a bundle of fun! He loves chasing toys, soaking up affection, and making new friends wherever he goes. With his big smile and wagging tail, it’ s impossible not to fall in love. He make look ordinary to some, but he is truly the kind of dog who lights up every room( and every heart) he enters.
Buck does have one special challenge: he’ s heartworm positive. Sadly, heartworm positive dogs often wait the longest to in the shelter.

But here’ s the good news... heartworm disease is treatable, and dogs like Buck go on to live long, happy, healthy lives once they complete their treatment. At Arlington Animal Services, we believe every heartworm positive dog deserves the same chance at a forever home as any other pet. They are just as perfect, just as loving, and just as deserving.
Thanks to generous donations, we’ re able to sponsor heartworm treatment for some of our adoptable dogs like Buck. Sadly, the need is always great, and we’ re hoping to grow our ability to help more dogs receive this lifesaving care. Money donated to our Medical Special Needs Account is able to directly assist in covering treatment costs for pups like Buck, giving them the chance to heal, thrive, and be loved by their adopted families.

Our shelter pets need more than food and a safe place while they wait to be adopted... they need love, play, and social time too!
By joining our volunteer program, you can help socialize adoptable pets and provide extra enrichment to their daily lives. Giving them the extra TLC they deserve while waiting on a furever family. Whether it’ s throwing a ball for an adoptable dog, or snuggling a kitten, simply spending time with them makes a world of difference.
