Brits win medals galore on the 2024 international stage

Great Britain ’ s paddling disciplines again showed why they ’ re a force to be reckoned with on the international stage , showcasing some incredible performances across the 2024 season .
GB won over 150 international medals across the year , with 50 of those being gold medals . Here ’ s a breakdown of some of the successes Britain achieved over the last 12 months .

There ’ s only one place to start with Britain ’ s slalom and paracanoe teams putting in recordbreaking performances at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games .
GB ’ s slalom team won a huge four medals at the Olympics in the French capital . Kimberley Woods got the medals underway in the canoe slalom , winning bronze in the women ’ s kayak three years after her 10th-place finish in Tokyo . Adam Burgess also won his first Olympic medal in his second Games , with a triumphant silver in the men ’ s canoe final .
Paris saw the Games debut of kayak cross , with the world getting to see the head-to-head allaction format of the sport . Kimberley Woods showed the high stakes of the format as she went for an ambitious move in the final to try and secure gold but won a brilliant second bronze of the Games . Joe Clarke MBE went on to win his second Olympic medal , as he achieved a brilliant silver in the men ’ s kayak cross final .
Britain ’ s world-leading paracanoe team rewrote the record books once again , as they went one better than their Tokyo medal tally , winning a huge eight medals and topping the table .
Charlotte Henshaw MBE became the first British double Paralympic Champion with golds in the KL2 and VL3 , taking her overall Paralympic tally to five across five Games .
Emma Wiggs MBE retained her VL2 title to win her third Paralympic gold , also securing her fifth medal with a silver in the KL2 , whilst Laura Sugar MBE made it back-to-back titles in the KL3 .
Hope Gordon achieved an impressive first Games medal with silver in the VL3 on the event ’ s Paralympic debut . There were also first Paralympic medals for Dave Phillipson ( KL2 ) and Jack Eyers ( VL3 ). The pair both achieved a fantastic silver , a first for Phillipson on his fifth attempt across two sports , whilst Eyers achieved the podium finish on his Games debut .
