Sportlight The club that gives Rochford Hundred Rugby Club 100% During the 2012/2013 season: • U18 girls won the London North league, with four girls being selected for the England U20 squad (two being in the starting line up • U17’s are Essex division 1 winners for 3 years in a row (2010/11/12) • U17’s are Essex cup winners in 2010/11 and Essex Cup Finalists • One of these girls, Amy Scott scored a try against Italy in one of the England matches • The U16’s were Essex Division 1 winners • 2011 - The Colts reached the 4th round of the National Cup (last 32 in the Country) and the Essex Cup Quarter Final • 2011 - U15’s were Essex Cup finalists and 3rd in Essex Division 1 • The U13’s were promoted to Division 1 • Former player Alex Brown is now playing premiership rugby for Exeter Typical Events: • Charity matches • Family fun days with stalls and bouncy castles • Annual black tie summer ball Description: • Founded on January 4th 1962, Rochford Hundred is open all year round, with a healthy rugby and social calendar. Originally fielding just two senior teams and a colts side, the club now boasts a large membership, including youths and ladies. It also has a heavy involvement with the development of youth rugby with local schools and summer rugby camps Membership: • 5 adult teams including ladies • 6 Youth teams Under 13 to 19, 3 Girls teams Under 13, 15, 18 • 6 Mini teams Under 7 to 12 • Associated with Little Scrummers – pre- school for 2 – 6 year olds Facilities: • Youth sections, ladies and girls teams • Corporate and event hire facility • Plenty of parking outside clubhouse Recent Successes: • Former U18’s Ellie Gattlin, Catherine Pugh and Lucie Wood - England International and Saracens ladies • Club was recently nominated in the category of Young Citizen for a Citizen of the Year award by Rochford & District Council, for their work in the community and especially with the youth sectors. The awards ceremony was on the 17th May.
