when a warm spring day reached
a wonderful 70 degrees!
THE EFFECTS OF EXERCISE
Physical activity and
exercise are important
to our physical and
mental health so that
we can stay engaged, be
independent, and enjoy
life. It has long been
documented that regular
activity and exercise
over extended periods of
time can produce long-
term health benefits as
we age. But, even as we
age, exercise can be an
effective treatment for
many chronic conditions.
Studies have shown that
people with arthritis,
heart disease, and
diabetes benefit from
regular exercise, as do
those who have high
blood pressure, balance
problems, and difficulty
walking. Exercise acts
as an emotional outlet
and helps to reduce
the harmful effects of
stress. The Orchards
are still providing
individuals opportunities
for exercise, along with
meditative movements
and affirmations for our
physical health, as well as
improving mental health
by helping the brain cope
better with stress and
anxiety.
