Andrew Wilson (89-99) was elected as the new OP
President at the Association’s AGM in November
2014 (see earlier in the magazine). His first official
engagement was attending the Quincentenary
London dinner at Haberdashers’ Hall where he gave
his inaugural President’s speech. Andrew works as a
barrister at Sovereign Chambers in Leeds. In February
2015 they merged with No 6 Park Square. The new
Chambers is known as Park Square Barristers and will
comprise over 100 barristers forming the largest set
in Leeds.
Tim Wright (85-94) was articled in London by
accountancy firm Morley & Scott (now part of Menzies
LLP), where he gained a wide variety of experience
including bookkeeping, management accounting, audit
and tax. He managed the audits of clients in sectors
including construction, pharmaceutical, financial
services, publishing, engineering and manufacturing. In
2004, Tim moved to Grant Thornton and managed
audit teams working on his large and varied portfolio
of clients including securities and futures brokers,
hedge funds, private equity firms, fund managers,
insurance brokers and manufacturing firms, as well
as undertaking specialist assignments on the audit of
Deloitte and other large listed and private companies.
He moved back ‘up North’ and into industry as
Business Support Manager at financial advisor
network Tenet Group, where he was responsible for
setting up financial and legal internal audit procedures,
management of the external audit process, direct and
indirect taxation, treasury management and banking,
as well as completing special projects for the Board
and Audit Committee. He was a member of the
Compliance and Risk Management Committee and
advised regarding financial systems and controls,
micro- and macro-economic and non-financial risks.
He is currently a Partner and Finance Director at
HGF in Leeds, joining in 2008. He is a Fellow of The
Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and
Wales. He is married to Tara (née Njolwa, 91-94)
and they have two young sons.
Will Chandler (00-05) was Head Boy during his final
year at Pocklington. He went on to attend Brighton
Institute of Modern Music for a year, studying music,
then committed to train at The Royal Veterinary
School. He now lives and works in London as a vet at
a small animal hospital.
Jonathan Chu (08-12) started a full time job at
the investment bank Lazard in the summer, having
previously done a 10-week internship will them whilst
at university, as well as insights with other banks during
his time as an undergraduate. He graduated from the
University of Warwick in July 2015 with a first class
honours degree in economics.
Helen Bayram (03-07)
Sam Butcher (93-04) qualified as a lawyer in
February 2015 and started a new job in March for
city law firm Bevan Brittan LLP in their commercial
and infrastructure division.
Phil Byass (94-05) lives in Leeds and is currently a
doctor at Bradford
