Mark Boersma (78-83), with his wife Niki, owns
and operates Fourways Guesthouse in Thirsk, a ten
-bedroomed property very near the racecourse.
Mark is a member of Thirsk Rotary and Northallerton
41 (ex-Round Table) Club. He also has a consultancy
business specialising in Hotel & Pub Management. At
the end of November he is part of the team who
arrange and operate events for the Thirsk Christmas
Lights. With three children, a step son and two
grandchildren, life is pretty full.
Phil Garratt (80-87) was away in February 2015 on a
vintage car endurance rally from Singapore to Burma,
which is what he now spends a lot of time doing. Last
year he won the Peking Paris rally in a 1937 Chevrolet.
Mark Grigg (77-84), a pilot with British Airways, flew
with Shelley Chadwick (00-07), as operating crew
on a British Airways Boeing 777. They got chatting
over Pakistan on the way back from Singapore and
realised they were both OPs and knew a lot of the
same teachers – Messrs Milne, Parsons, Rumbelow,
Soloman, Peel, Nuttall, Smith and Edwards.
Mark Grigg (77-84)
Drew Bryan (83-85) studied Law and qualified as a
solicitor 20 years ago. These days he lives in Devon
and works for the Crown Prosecution Service and
after many years in court now works from home
giving the police charging advice. He lives with his
wife and three children. He would be happy to hear

Jonathan Dale (77-82) went to Liverpool University
to study Law and went on to qualify as a solicitor.
After working in Leeds for over 15 years, Jonathan
is now a partner and head of the employment law
team at Andrew Jackson in Hull. He lives in North
Ferriby with his wife Wendy. When he is not being a
lawyer, he pursues his passion in life which is German
language and culture. He would be interested to hear

Andrew Manfield (78-87)
Lucy Horlick (née Henson, 81-83) studied Religious
Studies at the University of Edinburgh. She has been
married to William for 27 years. They live in Surrey
and have four children aged 25 to 15.
Chris Fenton (74-82) is married to Claire and in
2010 they left their jobs as archaeologists in Sheffield
and set off in a campervan overland to Bulgaria. On
the way, they worked on organic and eco projects
in France but on arrival in Bulgaria immediately fell
in love with the rural traditions and the slow pace
of life. They restored two neighbouring farmhouses
creating what is now Wild Thyme Organic Farm and
Eco Retreat and enjoy welcoming guests from around

Mark Kendrew (72-83) established his own company
in 2014, Apollo CIS, to provide interim cyber
security leadership services that bridge the business,
technology and security disciplines. The company
draws on Mark’s previous experience in management
consulting; the civil service and the defence and
security communities as well as his studies as a
Cranfield MBA and a Chartered Aerospace Engineer.
Mark is currently living with his family in Berkhamsted
where he has just managed a major rebuild and
extension to his home. He welcomes contact from
OPs who know him or who are living/working nearby.
Tim Fisher (77-82) cycled 6000 miles around Britain
in 2014. His tour included a visit to Pocklington. His
plan for 2015 is to cycle across the USA starting in

Stefan Ludewig (81-86) achieved a Masters in
Telecommunication Engineering from UCL in
November 2014. It took a while but with a full-time
job and a young family he got there in the end!
Charles Funnell (82-87) recently moved from
Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, where he was
Vice President at Savola Foods Company, back to
Switzerland where he is now working for Unilever as
the Director of Commodity Risk Management.
Simon Maddox (77-82) is an accountant in Croydon,
Surrey. He has worked in the same practice since
November 1986, joining as a trainee with no
experience or professional qualifications. Simon is
now the joint partner of the firm which employs
16 staff. You can see further details on the website

very exciting project for the past four years. They are
executive producers and film production accountants
for the recently released movie One Night in Istanbul.
The film was 5th in the DVD hit chart and 10th
on Amazon. A video on Liverpool Football Club’s
Facebook page of Jamie Carragher delivering the first
DVD to a competition winner is their 3rd highest
viewed Facebook video of all time.
Edward Funnell (79-84), after degrees from
Newcastle and then Durham Universities, has worked
in public relations and communications roles in
various settings and is now running his own fledgling
PR agency called Epsilon Communications. He lives in
south-west London and is married with four children
aged 17, 15 and twin boys of 7. In the little spare time
he has he enjoys cycling, and last year raised £600
cycling in the London to Brighton Bike Ride.
Andrew Manfield (78-87) is a farmer, agronomist
and technology expert based in East Yorkshire. He

was featured in the Yorkshire Post in March 2015
talking about the increase in the use of technology
in agriculture over the last decade. Andrew has his
own company Manterra that specialises in precision
farming research, equipment and supplying nonpowered implements.
Alison Proctor (née Owen, 86-88) is currently
working as a primary school teacher in south-west
Scotland. Later this year she will be leaving her job
to begin missionary training with BMS, in Birmingham.
Following eight months of training she will hopefully
be moving out with her husband to serve in
Bangladesh, Alison within education
