OP SOCIAL EVENTS AND REUNIONS OP SOCIAL ROUND UP ONDON A N N UA L L D IN N E R B L A C K T IE There were numerous get togethers and reunions both official and unofficial in 2018. Here are a few highlights. If you would like to organise a reunion of your year group and would like some help from the OP office, please get in touch with Rachel. Over 70 OPs and their guests enjoyed a fabulous evening at the Cavalry & Guards Club for the annual OP London black tie dinner on Friday 24 November 2017. The occasion also provided the perfect opportunity for the ’77 leavers to hold a reunion to mark their 40 years since leaving school. Club member, David Parker (75-84) sponsored the event, which took place in the elegant Field Marshal’s Room following a drinks reception in the adjoining Garden Room. NEWC ASTL E DRIN KS The Newcastle drinks event was held on Thursday 1 February 2018 at the Northern Counties Club through club member Nick Lumley (80-87). The move to a drinks format rather than a dinner proved popular last year and with the move to the new venue this year, numbers were even higher with 35 OPs and guests in attendance. E U N IO N 30 YEAR R ‘8 8 CLASS OF On Saturday 1 September 2018, James Sweeting (81-88) spearheaded a reunion for the class of ’88 celebrating 30 years since leaving school. The group of 27 headed to Carluccio’s in York for dinner followed by drinks at Kennedy’s Bar. By strange coincidence, the OPs ran into a group of ’88 leavers from St Peter’s who were also on a night out! 22
