In his final year Charlie was one of a selected few chosen to represent the university by showcasing his final collection at Graduate Fashion Week. After university Charlie went on to complete a few short internships at high-end fashion houses before going on to work as part of the menswear design team at River Island. He is now working as part of the boys wear design team at Boden. Charlie has also combined his work interests with his other passion, music, and has worked and even toured with a number of bands. Fraser Deas in Beijing including Premier Skills which is a project to develop grass-roots football across China by training up Chinese PE teachers to become football coaches and referees. David Dickinson (04-12) graduated with a first class Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of York in July 2016. He has decided to go in to teaching and takes up a post at Tonbridge School in Kent from September 2016. Ed Falkingham (04-11) has been signed by Championship Rugby Union Club, Doncaster Knights for the 2016-17 season. Ed makes the move from Hull Ionians where he has had a stand-out season, playing alongside his friend and fellow OP Isaac Green (09-11). Hannah Farmer (97-04) is a qualified solicitor specialising in rural and agricultural law. She moved back to Yorkshire from Staffordshire to take up the role of senior solicitor with Lupton Fawcett Denison Till based in their York office. Earlier this year Hannah was co-opted on to the OP committee to help with careers and events. Sam Fletcher (07-13) was awarded first class honours in his degree in Psychology and Criminology at Northumbria University. He plans to go to Sandhurst for a 3-month course in September before starting the 44-week commissioning course in January to become an officer in the Army. Emilie Garvey (01-07) is currently based in Hong Kong and working for Morgan Stanley Asia. She is responsible for recruitment events and marketing as well as supporting the business in reviewing role profiles and running assessment days. George Hobson (03-14) performed his magic for a second year at the prestigious Aston Martin Racing at a 24-hour race, in June 2016. George said: “Performing for such a prestigious company is a real pleasure, but to be asked back is an honour.” George has performed magic for corporate and private events all across the UK and plans to set sail next year to perform magic on-board cruise ship liners. 36 with catering and event companies, Jules went to the European Bartender School to do a professional bartender course under the expert tuition of world champion bartender, Tom Dwyer. During his training he developed a passion for mixing cocktails and decided to turn this into a business, launching Fusion Event Bars in 2015. Chris Hornsey (09-13) graduated in 2015 with a 2:1 in his law degree at BPP Law School (Accelerated LLB Hons). He has now passed the Masters Legal Practice Course with Business to complete his legal qualifications. He is currently looking for fulltime employment and recently started a part-time position with UPS at East Midlands Airport as a part-time export broker. Charlotte Jenkins (neé Turner 97-04) is an Occupational Therapist in a community neuro team covering North and North East Lincolnshire. Matthew Jones (01-08) visited school in April 2016. He is a Spanish Teacher and Resident Boarding House Tutor at Clayesmore School in Devon where he has worked for the last four years. He thoroughly enjoys the job and still travels regularly to Spain with the school as well as independently. He still enjoys tennis and plays for Pocklington Tennis Club when he is home in the summer holidays. Tom Kay (97-07) graduated from RADA and is now continuing with his acting career. Earlier this year, he produced a couple of short plays for the annual RADA Festival and was then invited to join RADA’s graduate company. He spent the summer on-board the Queen Mary 2 Ocean Liner, playing Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice and Oberon in Midsummer Night’s Dream. He has just finished a verbatim piece at the King’s Head Theatre in Angel, London. It sold out to packed houses and was filmed by the BBC, who used one of Tom’s speeches for a news report. Amy Laverack (01-08) is the fifth generation of her family to work for the family butcher’s business in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor. She oversees the bakery’s wholesale business and is responsible for marketing. Julian Lawrence (00-11) is now running his own events business Fusion Event Bars. Having graduated from Leeds Beckett with a degree in Event Management followed by a number of placements Julian Lawrence Annie Marsland (93-00) lives in Weymouth Dorchester with her husband and three daughters. As well as being a mum she also has her own business, Annie’s Farmhouse Crafts, making gifts from reclaimed wood. Roger Moorhouse (06-10) achieved a first class degree in Engineering Design at Bristol and is now working on the Jaguar Graduate Programme. Toby Nash (05-09) who is a qualified yacht master, has undertaken a trans-Atlantic yacht delivery for the owners of a 44ft Hallberg-Rassy. The crossing from Nice in France to St Petersburg in Florida took ten weeks sailing via Gibraltar, the Canaries and Antigua. On his return in February 2016, he joined his sister Sophie (00-11), an Occupational Therapist at The Chelsea Group School in Earlsfield, London, to volunteer in Italy for the charity Katie’s Ski Tracks www.katiesski tracks.org This organisation takes disadvantaged children with life-threatening medical conditions, disability or extreme social problems, on an adventure skiing holiday of a lifetime, without their parents or carers. (See feature on page 38). Jessy Pang (04-11) completed a pharmacy degree course at the University of East Anglia. She completed her training to be a pharmacist at the University College London during the summer of 2016. Alfie Potts Harmer (03-14), a Hull City fan and budding football writer, recently won the Young Football Blogger of the Year award at a ceremony in Manchester attended by football stars Gary Lineker and John Barnes. He won his award for his blog A Half-time Report. His longterm ambition is to become a newspaper football writer.
