There are so many factors that go into answering this question; from military power to long term impact, is there really a decisive answer to this unquantifiable question? Well, have no worry! I’ve already done the work and determined the top 3.

The Top 3 Roman Emperors

3. Hadrian

Hadrian is Trajan’s successor. During his time as Emperor, he did many good things for the Empire. He visited every province that was under Roman rule at the time and connected with them at a provincial level. Greek culture was also one of his hobbies; he wrote poetry and patronized the arts and architecture. He even oversaw the building of the Pantheon and constructed the temples of Venus and Roma. The majority of his rule was peaceful, however, when he did fight he was brutal.

2. Trajan

Trajan is most famously known as the greatest military Emperor in all of Roman history. He led the Empire to its greatest military expansion, therefore leading it to a maximum territorial extent. During his time he added parts of modern day Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, and Ukraine to the Roman Empire. He additionally hired skilled architects to improve the capital. He also provided food and games to the poor.
