9- Kelly Pavlik vs. Adonis Stevenson

I just have a feeling that this would be a fight for the ages. When two guys that can punch, are a little bit vulnerable, and feel that they have something to prove get together in the ring, it can be a lethal combination. The Canadian Stevenson has proved himself to be a murderous puncher, and Pavlik – although not as strong at 168 as he was at 160 – is still an excellent puncher. This is one of those fights where I would be shocked if it went to the scorecards. Big exchanges of long lefts from Stevenson and hard rights from Pavlik could create mini-battles that get round of the year recognition. Instead of a fight with Bute, if Pavlik heads up to the Great White North, this is the fight that should produce the most fireworks.

10- Danny Garcia vs. Lucas Matthysse

I saved the best for last. There is NO fight in boxing that intrigues me more than this battle of 140 pound beasts. Garcia’s wicked left hook and the human wrecking machine that is Lucas Matthysse promise to provide fight fans with a war to be remembered. Chins will be tested, heart will be a necessity, and supremacy at 140 awaits the winner. Does Matthysse have a strong enough chin to stand up to Garcia’s potent left hook? Does Garcia have the boxing skills to keep Matthysse off of him? Who is the baddest man at 140? These are the questions we need answered and over 12 rounds (most likely less) we will be provided with all the necessary information. Both are Golden Boy and Matthysse is Garcia’s mandatory, so what can hold this fight up? In my opinion, only GBP’s fear of losing a potential cash cow in Garcia will keep this fight from happening. Here’s hoping that GBP gives Matthysse what he has rightfully earned and makes this incredible fight for 2013.
