EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’ S REPORT

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’ S REPORT

MITCHELL C. SKLAR
With Thanksgiving just behind us and the holiday season just around the corner, it is an appropriate time to reflect on all of our blessings. I know that at times it may be hard to actually feel grateful, we all have much to be thankful for, not least of all for the amazing men and women— police officers, firefighters, health care workers, and all first responders— who each and every day provide lessons in courage and selflessness.
We are thankful for the men and women of our military, wherever they are, who are defending not only our lives and our country, but those very liberties and freedoms for which we are so thankful.
Closer to home, we should also be thankful for the fellowship and professionalism of our colleagues, members, and all of the supporters of our membership and our association.
On behalf of the NJSACOP Executive Staff, as well as my own family, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, a happy and thankful holiday season, and a safe, happy, and healthy New Year.

As the calendar turns toward year’ s end, and with Thanksgiving now behind us, this is a time when we naturally pause to reflect— not only on the year that has passed, but on the many blessings that continue to shape our lives, our profession, and our shared sense of purpose.
Even amid the challenges of the world, our nation, and our communities have faced in recent years, we have much to be thankful for. Gratitude, after all, is not simply a seasonal sentiment; it is a steady reminder of what truly matters— service, integrity, and the relationships that sustain us.
Each day, the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate courage, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to others. Their work often takes place quietly and without fanfare, but the impact is immeasurable. They remind us that public service is not just an occupation— it is a calling that demands both heart and humility.
We are also profoundly grateful for the members of our armed forces, serving around the world in defense of our freedoms and the ideals we hold dear. Their courage allows the rest of us to celebrate the season in peace and safety, and for that, we owe them our deepest thanks.
Closer to home, I remain continually inspired by the fellowship, dedication, and professionalism of our NJSACOP members and partners. This Association is strong because of you— the chiefs, command staff, and law enforcement leaders who invest their time, talent and commitment into advancing our shared mission. Your participation in our professional development programs, conferences, and other initiatives strengthens not only your individual departments but the collective profession of policing in New Jersey.
As we prepare to welcome a new year, we do so with renewed optimism and purpose. The work of leadership never truly ends; it evolves with every new challenge and opportunity. In 2026, we will continue to expand our educational programs, strengthen partnerships, and champion the principles of professionalism, accountability, and service that define the NJSACOP.
On behalf of the association Executive Staff and my own family, I extend to you and yours heartfelt wishes for a joyous holiday season. May the days ahead bring you peace, good health, and moments of genuine rest and reflection. Thank you for all that you do— every day— to make your communities safer, stronger, and better places to live.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and best wishes for a safe and successful New Year.
