The final session of the 2024-2025 NJSACOP Speakers Series featured a discussion with Melissa R. Hyatt, Assistant Director for the Office of State, Local, and Tribal Law Enforcement at the United States Marshals Service USMS). Prior to her appointment as Assistant Director at the USMS, AD Hyatt served as Chief of the Baltimore County Police Department. She also served over 20 years with the Baltimore( City) Police Department, holding positions such as Chief of Staff to the Police Commissioner, Chief of Patrol, Chief of the Special Operations Division, District Commander, and Special Weapons Tactics( SWAT). In 2018, she retired at the rank of Colonel to become Vice President for Security for Johns Hopkins Medicine and Johns Hopkins University, where she oversaw scrutiny for the global enterprise.
At the 53rd Annual Monmouth County 200 Club Valor Awards Luncheon, NJSACOP 3rd Vice President Chief Jim Sacca( Elizabeth PD) received a Commendation Award for heroic actions during a high-risk apprehension on December 31, 2024. Elizabeth Lt. Luciano Porto also received a Commendation Award for his role in the same incident. At the ceremony, Wall Police Chief Sean O’ Halloran also received a Merit Award for his response to an armed bank robbery. The event was held on June 6th at the Spring Lake Country Club.
East Brunswick Police Chief Frank LoSacco was elected as incoming NJSACOP 4th Vice President at the June 5, 2025, monthly NJSACOP Police Chiefs Briefing. Chief LoSacco will be sworn into office at the annual NJSACOP Installation Banquet on Wednesday, June 25th, during the 113th Annual NJSACOP Conference. The June Police Chief Briefing also featured guest remarks from New Jersey Civil Service Commission Chief / CEO Allison Chris Myers and Paul Goldenberg and Mark Genatempo from the Rutgers University Miller Center on Policing and Community Resilience.
Additionally, 20 NJSACOP Past Presidents attended the June Briefing to be recognized by the Association for their dedicated service to the Association. The Past Presidents were hosted by the organization at a luncheon following the meeting.
