FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT
CHIEF CHRISTOPHER M. LEUSNER
MIDDLE TOWNSHIP PD
I am excited to see the recent activity of our association Legislative & Public Policy
Committee, as well as the newly formed Public Relations Committee. Under the leadership of
our new Legislative Chair, Chief Conrad Pepperman, we are moving forward in raising our
discuss a
profile in Trenton. We met with Governor Murphy on Friday, February 14 th to
number of issues, and to ensure the lines of communication are open. We will also be
making contact with leaders in the Majority and Minority leadership in the state
legislature.
Our hope is to develop relationships and open communication with our
representatives so we can respond quickly when the need arises on proposed legislation. We
also intend to identify legislators to propose legislation we believe is needed.
We are also moving forward with our Public Relations Committee. Executive Director Mitch Sklar, Director of Public
Affairs Chief Chris Wagner (ret) and I recently met with the Chairman of the Public Relations Committee, Chief Keith
Germain. The goal of the committee is to promote the great work being done by police officers in this state, and to
fight back against the negative narrative we currently face in law enforcement. We will need the help of our
members for the content to share with the public. Chairman Germain will be convening a larger meeting of the Public
Relations Committee after one of our State Briefings in the near future. One initiative we decided to start
immediately is a spotlight article each month in our magazine. Chief Wagner will spotlight a Police Department
doing outstanding work each month. We will then post a link to the article in all of our social media platforms to
reach a larger audience.
Stay Safe,
Christopher M. Leusner
