OUR PARTNER Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is the Police Force responsible for law enforcement within the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester in North West England. GMP is the third largest of the English police forces. In total, Greater Manchester Police employs 6,500 police officers, 519 Volunteer Special Constables, 739 Police Community Support Officers, and 2,741 members of police staff. With Manchester city center at its heart, the 500 square mile area of makes up the Greater Manchester, the area spans ten local authority areas, across both urban and rural geographies. The population is just under 3 million and is diverse in terms of its social, economic, cultural and religious make up, with 16% of the population belong to a minority ethnic group. Manchester itself has been billed as the most diverse city in Europe, with its population speaking at least 200 different languages and has also recently become known as Britain’s “City of Languages”. There are 1.13 million households in Greater Manchester and the area has the largest travel-to work area of any conurbation in the UK outside London, with seven million people living within one hour’s drive of the city center. At over 100,000, Greater Manchester has one of the largest student populations in Europe. GMP deals with more priority incidents relative to population than any other force and GMP’s police officers deal with more crimes per officer than the average of comparable metropolitan forces. THE DELEGATION The delegation will consist of eighteen (18) law enforcement supervisory and command personnel from a variety of agencies. ACCREDITATION The 2020 Senior Leaders Course is an accredited course for the NJSACOP Accredited Chief/Command Executive Officer Certification Program.
